Classroom Policies

Please reach us at arttime4kidstoday@gmail.com if you have any questions!

No snacks or food in the studio. Our classes are about 45-60 minutes, so please plan to eat before or after your class time. The exception is our Homeschool Art Class and Summer Art Camps, which allows for a designated snack time.

  • If a sibling or child is with you regularly for a caregiver/child class, it is best if they are able to join the structured activity. If they are with you for unusual circumstances, such as a snow day at their school, they are welcome to join. If they choose to sit off to the side, please plan to bring an activity that is NOT electronic. I-pads and phones are too distracting to the children attending class, and unfortunately, we do not have a separate waiting room.
  • If an older sibling is staying home from school due to health reasons, they should not be at Art Time for Kids. Please make alternate plans.

  • If you need to schedule a music make-up class during a session, we will try our best to accommodate you into another class. Make-up classes need to be in the least crowded class of the week, so we ask for your flexibility when fitting you in.
  • If you need to schedule an art make-up class, we will do our best to schedule you to receive the lesson that you missed. If the specific lesson that you missed has passed, we can send home materials and instructions. Occasionally, depending on the project, students can come a few minutes before or after a class to catch up. This may only be an appropriate solution for older children, at the discretion of the teacher’s schedule.
  • Make-ups do not roll over into the next session. If a family misses more than one class during a session, more than one make-up will not be possible. Refunds and credits are not given for missing classes. Make-up classes are given as staff is able to schedule them.

Young children’s behaviors (preschool age) are predictably unpredictable as they are learning and growing. We have seen it all! We do our best to manage behaviors to be non-disruptive and safe for the class. In caregiver/child classes, we expect the adults to react and correct these behaviors before we do. If there are issues with constant disruptions and aggressive behaviors, staff will discuss the possibilities of delaying attendance for a few months, as appropriate.

Art Time for Kids will ultimately decide if your child is appropriate for our program.

Older students (K-12th grade) who attend drop-off art class: if there is a behavior plan in place at school, or any behavioral IEP goals set at school, the staff at Art Time for Kids needs to know. Although we are not an academic setting, we have classroom expectations of respect to other students and staff, and students must have the ability to receive information and instruction. We do not have teacher’s aides and support like their daily school environment.

If a student is homeschooled, please give us strategies to make your child successful if you know they may need extra support.

If a students really wants an Art experience, but they are unable to manage a small classroom environment for any reason, one suggestion may be that parents become the student’s one-on-one aide and attend class with them. If this is not possible, or disruptions to the larger classroom continue, Art Time for Kids may not be the appropriate place for the student.  Our studio will make suggestions for you find a place to receive Art education through resources in our area!

Art Time for Kids will ultimately decide if your child is appropriate for our program.
