We are passionate about Art History at every age level! By incorporating and artist or art movement from all over the world into every art project, children are inspired and experience deeper learning and understanding of the world of Art.
Movement, rhymes, music, stories, and games help the youngest artists enjoy a fully structured lesson.
Our next session begins January 3rd, and is the 8 week Winter Session! Register for this session on Thursday, Dec. 1st.
Wed @ 9:30 & 10:45, Thurs @ 9:30 & 10:45 & 1:00, & Sat. @ 9:30 & 10:45 (Structured class time is approximately 45-50 minutes, and parents and children often stay to socialize and play afterwards!)
6 weeks $100.00 + $10 materials fee
Our structured activities are a great way for little ones to become comfortable with a semi-structured activity. In an active, low pressure environment, we move, read, and explore. Little siblings are welcome; we love to see baby brothers and sisters! No charge for siblings under age 2.
Let’s look at the art of contemporary designer and artist Marcus Oakley. Using recycled cardboard, let’s cut, paint, and collage with cardboard to make an interesting relief sculpture.
The inspirational art and social movement of Tyree Guynton will teach the students about turning trash into treasure, and how pride can make a difference in their community. Robots will be made from recycled objects.
Polluted Waters? How about a natural solution: Send in the oysters! Let’s look at the magical filtering qualities of the humble oyster and see how New York City is using 11 million oysters in the New York Harbor to clean the polluted waters of the Hudson River. As artists, let’s use watercolors to appreciate the beautiful oyster shell.
Local artist Sophia Constantine’s work will be on display.
The beautiful butterfly has been a muse to artists and fashion designers, but butterflies also hardworking pollinators for our environment. The butterfly has it all! Let’s learn about symmetry and create an intricate butterfly drawing.
The Fabergé Eggs from Russia’s House of Fabergé number 52, but only 46 are in existence! Where are the missing eggs? Why are they so valuable? What is their history? We are all excited to make some very fancy eggs.
The end of our spring semester is a great day to plant a seed. Earth works created by Robert Long and Agnes Denes will inspire our love of the outdoors. A funny face planter can be a self-portrait of a creative creature.
Art Time for Kids will be closed March 13th-18th, to reflect the Spring Break schedule of the city and county schools.
At Art Time for Kids, we enjoy hands-on learning! Come do a variety of lessons: from drawing, to painting, to color mixing, to sculpting, we learn about artists and art movements along with skill-building projects.

Let’s look at the art of contemporary designer and artist Marcus Oakley. Using recycled cardboard, let’s cut, paint, and collage with cardboard to make an interesting relief sculpture: balance, overlap, organic vs. geometric shapes.
With cardboard collages complete, students will use paint and paint markers to mix, paint, and create patterns and color to complete their piece. We will look at the inspiring art and social movements of Tyree Guynton.
Polluted Waters? How about a natural solution: Send in the oysters! Let’s look at the magical filtering qualities of the humble oyster and see how New York City is using 11 million oysters in the New York Harbor to clean the polluted waters of the Hudson River. As artists, let’s use graphite sketches and watercolors to appreciate the beautiful oyster shell. Local artist Sophia Constantine’s work will be on display.

The end of our spring semester is a great day to appreciate the outdoors. Earth works created by Robert Long and Agnes Denes will inspire our love of the outdoors. Students will begin a drawing of weaving, creeping, and climbing vines and plants: Shading, balance, and a love of the imperfect beauty of nature!
Our final week of art class for the session. Let’s work hard to finish the pencil drawing we began last week, and enjoy the artwork and differences of our fellow classmates!
